About the Illustrator

Hi! I’m Ciena!

I absolutely love making art! I have experimented with many different kinds – from pastels and scrapbooking to oil painting and mixed media. Of all these, watercolor is my favorite. I have been painting with watercolor for 8 years now, but I continue to improve on my skill and learn new techniques every day.

My inspiration comes from a number of things:

I am inspired by the outdoors. I grew up in the mountains of Colorado so I have a fondness for mountains and wildflowers. These are a big theme in my work. 

I currently live in wonderful suburbia Illinois with my loving husband and two Golden Retrievers, Hank and Sadie. They keep me on my toes! We all love to go on long walks and we are always finding new places to explore. My little family has also been a big inspiration to me, especially with this book.

Currently, I’m a part-time artist but I am working to put more work into my art business. I’m so excited to work on more books and see where this adventure takes me next!
